203408 - Two Day Basic Firefighting
Course Description
This is an introductory level course designed to enable participants to understand their role and to participate as a member in Basic Fire Team Operations.Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:- Explain the principles of fire behavior.
- Operate and use all types of tools, appliances, and protective equipment (including SCBA).
- Conduct effective fire attacks.
- Select and effectively operate a fire extinguisher.
- Demonstrate how to properly select and utilize extinguishing agents.

Notes
Medicals should be provided to administration prior to course start date but students can bring the medical along the morning of registration. <To comply with Provincial OH&S legislation all students participating in this course to be clean shaven and must provide a fit test certificate (quantitative) for use of Scott AV 3000 style face piece. Fit testing for this training can be completed on site. Please note that there is a fee associated for this service of $65 plus tax.
Please be advised that the daily course schedules are subject to change and all participants should be prepared for course deliveries outside normal business hours (i.e. evenings and weekends). You will be notified if any such change is necessary. In the event of inclement weather, students should visit www.mi.mun.ca for important announcements regarding class cancellations and rescheduling. Announcements regarding class cancellations will also be on local radio stations.
If you are eligible to receive a T2202A for tax purposes, they will be available on Short Course Registration in February of the following year. Students are advised to log into your Destiny account in order to print a copy of your T2202A form.
