Course Description

The purpose of the course is to provide training to navigation officers to operate ships in polar waters and to meet the Mandatory minimum STCW requirements for the training and qualifications of masters and deck officers on ships operating in polar waters, specifically as these apply to Tables A-V/4-1 "Specification of minimum standard of competence in basic training for ships operating in polar waters."

Credential Awarded

Upon successful completion, the candidate will be awarded a certificate of achievement and a Transport Canada Training Certificate

Prerequisites

1) Watchkeeping Mate or
2) a Cadet in the final year of their Nautical Science Program having successfully completed their qualifying sea service.

Notes

You will be required to present documented evidence of the prerequisites on the first morning of the course.
