201407 - Technical Water and Ice Rescue
Course Description
The purpose of the course is to enable the Fire Service, Search and Rescue Teams, and Emergency First Responders to be trained and tested to the NFPA 1006 Rescue Tech Standard for technical water and ice rescue.Learning Outcomes
- To enable students to be efficient and confident to perform water and ice rescue procedures as a member of an emergency response team.
- To enable students to perform the duties of a supervisor in ice and water rescue procedures.

Prerequisites should be provided to administration prior to course start date but students can bring them along the morning of registration.
Please be advised that the daily course schedules are subject to change and all participants should be prepared for course deliveries outside normal business hours (i.e. evenings and weekends). You will be notified if any such change is necessary. In the event of inclement weather, students should visit www.mi.mun.ca for important announcements regarding class cancellations and rescheduling. Announcements regarding class cancellations will also be on local radio stations.
If you are eligible to receive a T2202A for tax purposes, they will be available on Short Course Registration in February of the following year. Students are advised to log into your Destiny account in order to print a copy of your T2202A form.
