Course Description

This is an awareness level course that will provide participants with basic knowledge in oil spill response.

Learning Outcomes

  • To show the student the impact and consequences of marine-related oil spills.
  • To acquaint the student with organizations tasked with response to marine-related oil spills.
  • To enable the student to understand the principles and practices related to oil spills.
  • To train the student in basic oil spill prevention, assessment, protection, containment, clean-up, and recovery strategies.

Please be advised that the daily course schedules are subject to change and all participants should be prepared for course deliveries outside normal business hours (i.e. evenings and weekends). You will be notified if any such change is necessary. In the event of inclement weather, students should visit www.mi.mun.ca for important announcements regarding class cancellations and rescheduling. Announcements regarding class cancellations will also be on local radio stations.

If you are eligible to receive a T2202A for tax purposes, they will be available on Short Course Registration in February of the following year. Students are advised to log into your Destiny account in order to print a copy of your T2202A form.
