200825 - Hazardous Materials Response (Support Personnel)

Course Description

This is a course that introduces the student to situations, equipment, and basic procedures used for Hazardous Materials Response, thus enabling them to assist a hazardous materials response team at a Hazmat release site.

Learning Outcomes

• Ensure students have a clear understanding of the requirements of a Hazardous Materials Response Team.
• Enable students to assist a Hazardous Materials Response Team.
• Provide students with the knowledge to select the appropriate materials and equipment used by a Hazardous Materials Response Team.
• Enable students to understand and work in conjunction with a Hazardous Materials Response Team Leader.

Prerequisites should be provided to administration prior to course start date but students can bring them along the morning of registration.

Please be advised that the daily course schedules are subject to change and all participants should be prepared for course deliveries outside normal business hours (i.e. evenings and weekends). You will be notified if any such change is necessary. In the event of inclement weather, students should visit www.mi.mun.ca for important announcements regarding class cancellations and rescheduling. Announcements regarding class cancellations will also be on local radio stations.

If you are eligible to receive a T2202A for tax purposes, they will be available on Short Course Registration in February of the following year. Students are advised to log into your Destiny account in order to print a copy of your T2202A form.
