200814 - Fire Pumper Driver/Operator
Course Description
This course is designed to give students the knowledge to operate and to maintain a fire pumper in safe working condition.
Learning Outcomes
The student will be able to:
- Identify all components for a fire apparatus.
- Explain safe operating procedures for a fire apparatus.
- Operate and maintain a fire apparatus.

NFPA 1002 Certification Testing Available Upon Request
Prerequisites
- High School Graduation;
- Basic Firefighting course (2 day minimum);
- Valid drivers license with air brake endorsement;
- NFPA 1002 Certification Testing Pre-requisites (as outline by Fire and Emergency Services NL);
- NFPA 1001, Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications, Firefighter I;
- Valid Driver’s License with air brake endorsement
Notes
Prerequisites should be provided to administration prior to course start date but students can bring the prerequisites along the morning of registration.

Please be advised that the daily course schedules are subject to change and all participants should be prepared for course deliveries outside normal business hours (i.e. evenings and weekends). You will be notified if any such change is necessary. In the event of inclement weather, students should visit www.mi.mun.ca for important announcements regarding class cancellations and rescheduling. Announcements regarding class cancellations will also be on local radio stations.
If you are eligible to receive a T2202A for tax purposes, they will be available on Short Course Registration in February of the following year. Students are advised to log into your Destiny account in order to print a copy of your T2202A form.
