201200 - Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
Course Description
This basic course will enable the student to demonstrate the correct procedures and describe requirements for wearing Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
Learning Outcomes
- Provide the student with knowledge about the importance of regulations and standards related to the use and care of respiratory protection.
- Provide the student with the knowledge and skills to identify and correctly use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
- Provide the student with the skills to respond to an air supply interruption.
- Provide the student with the skills to perform a simple rescue while wearing an SCBA.
- Provide the student with the knowledge to inspect and maintain an SCBA.

Please be advised that the daily course schedules are subject to change and all participants should be prepared for course deliveries outside normal business hours (i.e. evenings and weekends). You will be notified if any such change is necessary. In the event of inclement weather, students should visit www.mi.mun.ca for important announcements regarding class cancellations and rescheduling. Announcements regarding class cancellations will also be on local radio stations.
If you are eligible to receive a T2202A for tax purposes, they will be available on Short Course Registration in February of the following year. Students are advised to log into your Destiny account in order to print a copy of your T2202A form.
