703317 - Security Awareness Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties
Course Description
This course provides knowledge to those who may be designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of seafarers with designated security responsibilities, as defined in Table A-VI/6-2 of the STCW Code, and Section 213 of the Canadian MTSR, and in particular the duties and responsibilities with respect to assisting the Vessel Security Officer in enhancing the security of a vessel.
Online options available. When delivered online this 12.5 hour course is delivered in BRIGHTSPACE (formally Desire2Learn or D2L). This web-based platform will allow you to access your course materials and communicate with your instructor and classmates. This two day course will consist of live online lectures for the course duration, supplemented with assigned course work, followed by an online invigilated written exam at the end."
Learning Outcomes
Those who successfully complete this course should be able to undertake duties and responsibilities as seafarers with designated security duties, as defined in section Table A-VI/6-2 of the STCW Code, and Section 213 of the Canadian MTSR. These duties include:
- to maintain the conditions set out in the vessel security plan;
- to have the ability to recognize security threats and risks;
- to gain knowledge in the use of security equipment;
- to undertake regular security inspections of the vessel
