Fishing Master - Class IV

This program prepares you to challenge Transport Canada examinations for Fishing Master, Fourth Class. You gain knowledge and skills in the areas of:

• Chartwork and pilotage
• Navigation safety
• Ship construction and stability
• Simulated Electronic Navigation
• General seamanship

Once certified by Transport Canada, you may serve as a Master, or Mate on board fishing vessels, under applicable regulations.

You do not require a degree or diploma to apply for admission to this program. You can take individual courses to start, and apply later.

The holder of this certificate may act as Master on board a fishing vessel of not more that 100 gross tonnage engaged on a near coastal or sheltered waters voyage and as Officer in charge of the watch of a fishing vessel of any tonnage engaged on near coastal and sheltered waters voyage.

Completion of this certificate does not award the Fishing Master, Fourth Class Transport Canada certification. You must write your examinations with Transport Canada to be fully certified.
