Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with an operational knowledge of Canadian and International legislative requirements in order to satisfy compliance with pollution-prevention requirements, and to monitor compliance with legislative requirements including base IMO documents, The Canada Shipping Act 2001 (including CSA regulations), and the Canada Labor Code.

This course is supported by a learning management system called BRIGHTSPACE (formally Desire2Learn  or D2L). This web-based application will allow you to access all your course materials and communicate with your instructor and your classmates.    The examination must be written at Transport Canada.

Course Outline

1.0 Knowledge of the Precautions to be taken to Prevent Pollution of the Marine Environment
2.0 Anti-pollution Procedures and all Associated Equipment
3.0 Knowledge of the Pollution Prevention Requirements as Contained in the Canadian Regulations
4.0 Basic Working Knowledge of the Relevant IMO Conventions Concerning Safety of Life at Sea and Protection of the Marine Environment
5.0 Knowledge of the Canada Shipping Act-2001
6.0 Knowledge of Canadian Regulations and Vessels Documentation
7.0 Comply with Marine Occupational Safety and Health Legislation
