Course Description

This course is designed to give workers/participants an understanding of basic salmonid aquaculture concepts and methodologies. Topics covered include: biology and life cycle of salmonids; the product on value of farmed salmonid species; the farm life cycle of salmonids; the process of brood stock selection and early life stage culture methods; rearing fish in land-based systems, including the introduction on of recirculating aquaculture systems design; methods of rearing in open sea culture of fin fish; and live transport, harvesting and quality control.
