Course Description

This course is designed to give workers/participants an understanding of basic aquaculture concepts. It includes an introduction to the history of aquaculture; the production and market value of the key species in Canadian aquaculture, as well as the types of jobs created by the industry; a general introduction the biology and farming methods used for key species in Canada, including introducing the basic concepts around methods land-based and open ocean farming; examples of
current ‘hot topics’ and public perception of the industry; and introducing new and upcoming innovations in the industry.
