5 Courses Required
The proposed Certificate in Officer Development (Second-Class Marine Engineer) will consist of 5 core courses. All courses have been approved by IRC as of October 31, 2024.
As required for each of the courses (due to Transport Canada regulations) applicants must be 18 years of age to be acceptable to the admissions committee. In addition, students entering the program must be hold a Third-class Engineer certificate with STCW endorsement or a Fourth-class Engineer certificate with STCW endorsement.
The program is intended to provide training to marine engineers advancing to 2nd class certification and who are not enrolled in a Transport Canada accredited diploma program where examination credits are given to the second- or first-class levels. Participants who successfully complete the five courses as prescribed in the program description will receive an Officer Development (Second-Class Marine Engineer) Certificate.
